The flickering of LED light, that flickering imperceptible to the naked eye but perceptible, especially at a visual level and prolonged discomfort, is one of the most underestimated problems in the design of 220V systems. It is not just an aesthetic issue: it affects the visual comfort of the environments and, in some cases, it can involve an obvious “strobe” effect, especially when the light is off or with dim systems.
LEDCO responds to this problem with SLP220, the AntiFlicker device designed for 220V systems, designed to ensure light stability and constant visual quality.
In 220V LED systems, the residual micro-voltages present in the electrical circuit can generate swings in the current flow, perceived as flickering or strobe effect. A particularly annoying case is the so-called “ghost current”: even with the light off, a minimum residual current can pass through the switch and accumulate in the LED, generating the classic flashes or night flickers that many designers and installers know well. Another critical scenario concerns dimmed systems, where maintaining a constant power wave at low brightness levels is technically more complex.
SLP220 acts as a small stabilisation filter, positioned between the power supply and the lighting body, and intervenes on three fronts:
– Accumulation and release of voltage: stores excess voltage and regulates the outgoing electrical flow, avoiding sudden swings and interruptions.
– Dissipation of residual current: absorbs the “ghost” current that passes through the light switch off, preventing it from accumulating in the LED and eliminating night flickering.
– Wave stabilisation: in systems with dimmers, it keeps the power wave constant, ensuring uniform light even at the lowest dimming levels.
The result is a stable light in all conditions of use, without perceptible flickering either at full power or in dimming.

For architects and lighting designers, the quality of light is not only measured in lumens or colour temperature: the stability of the luminous flux is an equally relevant parameter, especially in environments where visual comfort is a project requirement – offices, retail, prestigious residential spaces. SLP220 allows you to face this aspect upstream, integrating the solution directly into the plant, without having to manage the problem with subsequent corrective interventions.
A technical detail that makes the difference between a system that “works” and a system that really offers a quality visual experience.
